Design, for me, begins with content. Before I settle on a visual translation of the work, I want to understand: what is the foundation my project should grow from? To me, good design is the result of a clear conceptual model that carries through consistently across all touchpoints, while an understanding of aesthetics and style still remains essential to my projects.
